Verizon doesn't understand simple math
http://www.boingboing.net/2009/03/19/verizon-doesnt-under.html
Verizon told George Vaccaro that bandwidth charges in Canada were .002 cents per kilobyte, but billed him at .002 dollars, or 100 times as much as he was quoted.
But Verizon customer service insists there's no difference between .002 dollars and .002 cents. Here's the recording of the call. George was incredibly patient with the Verizon customer service supervisor, who just couldn't understand the many examples George gave him to explain the difference between .002 cents and .002 dollars.

Smart Alec
The other day the wife asked me one of those loaded questions that send alarm bells ringing up a guys spine. It was something in the nature of, am I still your best girl? Now the alarm bells never fail to ring in an instance like this but for the life of me, I never manage to heed them. You see, I am a Smart Alec. It is nearly impossible for me to resist such a nice fat pitch coming down the middle of the plate. The problem is, that in marriage you never, repeat never score points for hitting the ball out of the park. Quite the opposite, any attempt to take a swing at the ball, results in an out. Turning over in my cranium were the responses, "No Mary has taken your spot". or "You're still ahead of my girlfriend", or "You're number one by default". I was quite proud of myself for not letting any of these comments escape my lips. Normally though, in a case of having succeeding in not saying anything that would land me sleeping on the couch, a broad smile comes over my faces as the wheels of Smart Alec-iness turn in my head. My wife knowing I am stifling ling some thought fails to be amused by my great restraint. But on this day I managed to even avoid this pitfall as I gave my wife a big hug and said, "Why of coarse you are my number one girl". And I even meant it.
